Blackjack cheating at tournaments is not very commonly seen since they are mostly very well regulated and the rules and regulations of the tournaments are all very strict. Also, the dealers at the blackjack tournaments are usually very capable of detecting cheaters and are very experienced so it is not very common to see players successfully pulling off cheating in the tournaments. However, there are a few cheating techniques which are often used at tournaments.
One of the most common strategies which is used is to cheat at the game is to pin some hidden cards to the regular cards and then move them to the right individual at the table. This hardly ever works at tournaments since the dealers have a keen eye and know what to look for. Also, the dealer would always call for a Card Down if he/she sees the cards under the table since it is against the rules.
Working with the dealer
Players who work with the dealer often succeed at cheating at blackjack tournaments. There are several different cheating methods which are used when working with the dealer. Dealers are quite talented and capable when it comes to the game. They have exceptional knowledge on the game and they can single handedly manipulate the course of the game to determine who would win and who wouldn’t. for this reason, players generally succeed when the collaborate with dealers.
Second deal
The games which are dealt by the dealer are more susceptible to cheating when compared to those that are dealt from the shoe. When dealers are dealing, the prefer to use the second deal method to cheat. This technique requires the dealer to pretend to deal the top most card when instead he/she is dealing the second from the top card. This is quite a tricky method since there are cameras and a lot of authorities who are watching every single move of the dealer. However, there are a few dealers who are so competent that they can manage to do it without getting detected.
If a player can get a low card when he needs one and a high card when he needs that, it is only natural that he/she would have the edge over the others and can win the tournament easily.
High low pickup
Another cheating method at blackjack tournaments is the high low pickup. This technique is easy even for novices to perform and can work in tournament settings where there are quite a lot of distractions. After every single hand the dealer would pick up the cards in an alternating high low order. The dealer would then have to proceed and perform a false shuffle where the deck looks like it is being shuffled but the cards are in fact in the same order.
The arrangement of the cards is quite crucial for winning. However, some very experienced dealers who know the trick well can perform the trick in the blink of an eye without anyone even suspecting anything at all.
