World Series of Blackjack

The World Series of Blackjack (WSOB) began in 2004 and was produced for the Game Show Network. Max Rubin and Matt Vasgersian hosted the first two seasons. Later seasons appeared as part of GSN's casino programming and introduced new hosts.

The event used preliminary rounds, semifinals, wild-card events and a final match. Fields typically included recognized blackjack tournament players such as Hollywood Dave Stann, Ken Einiger and Ken Smith.

The first and second seasons

The first season was held at Mohegan Sun and offered a top prize of $100,000. The second season moved to the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas, where Ken Einiger won the top prize.

The following seasons

The third season was held at the Las Vegas Hilton with a larger top prize and new hosts. Season four increased the grand prize to one million dollars and featured a mixture of famous blackjack players and celebrities.

WSOB was a closed tournament: contestants were invited or earned their places through satellite events. See the World Series of Blackjack rules.
